The small institution that later developed into Liverpool John Moores University was founded in 1823 by people of power and influence in Liverpool. They recognised that education can change the lives of individuals as well as communities and wider society. Today LJMU is home to a community of more than 25,000 students (Complete University Guide 2024) from more than 100 countries and 2,500 staff. Offering over 300 degree courses, it is one of the largest, most dynamic and forward-thinking universities in the UK.
